On this page you'll also find information about how we partner with each other within and beyond our church in the work of the gospel in the world. This includes:
GBC Partners What it can look like to partner within our church.
Global Partners (scroll down)Those from our community that we support in God's work around the world.
Local Partnerships (scroll to the bottom)Local organisations we partner with in God's work.
We count every person who is part of our community at Gordon Baptist Church as a local mission partner seeking to live lives that announce God's reign to those we do life with. We'd love to walk with you as you learn to join God in his work in the world with your unique set of gifts and callings. Some ways to partner with others here include:
Serving one another as we gather together with the various gifts God has given each of us.
Giving financially Scroll down to see partners that we support financially as a church, and find out about ways to give here:
Becoming a member to get more involved in the way the community operates. We meet at least four times a year to make decisions together about matters that impact our whole church, including electing our leadership group (Deacons) who oversee the day to day running of the organisational aspects of our church. Email us if you'd like to begin a discussion about becoming a Member of Gordon Baptist Church:
A number from our community have moved overseas, whom we continue to support financially and through friendship in the work they are doing. These partners include:
Trent and Ivory have a heart for minority groups. After leaving their previous location they found that they were able to get visas to another place with people groups from the same faith background and arrived there is early 2020 despite many potential hurdles.
They serve in a location that officially guarantees freedom of religion and outlaws religiously motivated discrimination. Believers, however, are often considered second-class citizens and routinely denied government aid and jobs. There is also not much spiritual interest among the people and the few gatherings of believers there are often divided and paralysed by fear of persecution. Trent and Ivory seek to encourage them in their faith journey and be bolder in their sharing with their friends and neighbours.
Ivory also teaches English at a private high school and Trent uses his vast musical, technical and language skills to produce music videos in many languages which are uploaded and are encouraging believers throughout the region. He also has many opportunities to share stories from the Good Book as he goes about life. He has recently been appointed country team leader for his company. The three children go to a local school which teaches the majority religion and are happy and healthy
Dave and Kristin are working in one of the poorest areas in the world, despite its abundant natural resources. The population is largely rural and often short of food. Malaria, dengue, water-borne diseases, and HIV/AIDS are significant problems. Literacy levels are low and children are vulnerable to exploitation. There are conflicts in the region and large numbers of internally displaced people. It also has a restricted Christian church (6% of the population) mainly among ethnic minority groups. Dave specialises in agriculture, development and environmental management, working with aid and development agencies and businesses as a technical advisor and mentor to equip local people to address people’s physical and spiritual needs. Kristin is a paediatrician, involved in teaching other health professionals and treating children in orphanages. Both are also very active in the ministry of their local church.
In spite of its rich Christian heritage, in a population of 60 million there are less than 400,000 evangelical Christians in France (0.7% of the population). Paul works full-time as a pastor in a local church. Joyce is also involved in church-based ministry. Paul, Joyce and Joshua are just about to relocate to a new area and take up these roles with new communities of people.
We are linked with a number of organisations that operate locally and globally to do the work of the gospel. At times we support these groups financially as a community, but you may wish to personally partner with them as well.
